Pinterest Make Me: {Mrs. Claus Tutu Dress}

Have you entered my current giveaway yet?  You can do so, here!
Good Morning everyone!!  I am in the Christmas swing full force, how about you?  Today I want to show you an order I completed a few weeks ago.  It is a Mrs. Clause tutu.  Simply adorable!!  Sorry in advance for the un-edited photos.  My computer completely died on me, and I'm having to use the hubby's for a few days until I get it fixed. :(

One of my real life friends/follower on Pinterest asked if I could make this Mrs. Claus TuTu Dress.  I was more than happy to help.  I mean, we all know how much I love making things off of Pinterest!

Here is the picture from Bear Rabbit Bear! {Hi Melanie!}
Super cute, right?  Let's get started!
First, make a tutu long enough to fit a child from right below the arm's to as long as you want the "dress".  You will need to measure how long that is, and double it so that you will have the right length since your tulle will have to be doubled over the top to make the tutu. (Does that make since?)

I found some Christmas hats at the Dollar Tree, and decided to cut the "fur" off of them for the top of the dress.

I folded the "fur" over the top, where it would be soft on the inside and outside of the dress and hand stitched it onto the top of the dress. I left a small space in the back, about 1 inch that was not sewn but just laid over so that the elastic could still stretch to fit over a body and be stretched out if needed.

Next is the belt.  A friend of mine, Beth, found the ribbon at Hobby Lobby and I knew it was perfect!  It has a sweet ruffle on each side, plus feels like velour or something of that nature in the middle.  I sewed on some velcro, so that it can be moved to fit a while if used for something different.

Add a little bling in the middle for the "buckle" and your done!  I absolutely, positively, LOVE it!!

It is being used for Christmas photos, and I will get a picture of the cutie wearing it soon.  When I do, I will make sure to post it so that everyone can see! ;)

Have a fabulous day!

A Small Piece of Paper....a HUGE Success!

Hey everyone!  I hope you all are having a fabulous day.  I wanted to pop in really quick and tell you all what has happened today.  I received a little small piece of paper in the mail while I was gone, and realized what it was this morning when I was going through my mail.

I want to give you a little background into my life for a minute.  Right out of High School I went away to College in Oklahoma.  Yes, like 9 hours or so from home.  I didn't really know what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, so I was going to get my Associates and hopefully know a little more after that.  Needless to say, that only lasted one semester.  I decided to come home and started at a community college.  I decided that I wanted an Accounting degree because I was so good at math in school.  Well, come to find out....Accounting is seriously boring!  So, after one semester I quit that as well.

Then came beauty school!  I have always loved doing things to my hair.  Different cuts, constant colors or highlights.  Fun, right?  To be able to do hair on a regular basis?  Yes, Please!  Well, 500 hours later my love graduated all of his schooling for the Army and was stationed at Ft. Campbell.  When we found out where he was going to be stationed we set our date for the wedding.  You know where this is going, I'm sure.  Yep!  I'm a beauty school drop out!  {Your totally singing the song from Grease right now, right?  lol}
 I mean, it may be one of my all time favorite movies!  Seriously!!

Fast forward TEN YEARS later, and I FINALLY know what I want to do with my life!  Took long enough, right? ;)  When we decided that I would quit work to stay home with our kids I started taking online classes.  After 10 years of being married to the Military, and seeing what families and children go through I decided I wanted to help them.  I want to become a Marriage and Family Counselor.  I am seeking a Bachelors in Psychology, then will continue to a Masters in Marriage and Family Counseling.  Well, while away I received a small piece of paper in the mail.  Guess what it was??  My Associate of Arts Diploma!!

Can I get a Woot Woot!!  I am too excited.  It has taken so long, and lots of frustration and even some tears (Yes, I'm a big baby when I'm stressed! HA) but I have finished the first step.  I will start on my Bachelors program after the Holidays, and can not wait to get started.  Wish me luck! :)

Bandanna Skirt

A few months ago I made a bandanna skirt for Miss Riley. It was a tad big on her then, so I decided to wait to take pictures of it. Well, she can finally fit it, and it's so adorable!  She loves it, too.  So much that I could barely get pictures of her in it.  ;)  So sorry for the ones to follow, after a while I just decided they were good enough. HA!

I put a pink bandanna over a plain black one.  I lined them up "off".  Where the angles were not lined up.  I then cut out the circle in the middle for the waist.  I added elastic to the cut out circle and viola, it was done!

This shot has got to be my favorite!  I love seeing a little one running, playing, and twirling.  Don't you?

What do you think?  Do you love making things from Bandanna's?  I don't think they will ever go out of "style".

I like to party over here!

Have a wonderful day!!

Thanksgiving in Photos and an Award

Hello everyone!!  How was your Thanksgiving??  Fabulous I hope!  I have literally been home for almost an hour now and I am trying to catch up on everything that has happened the past few days.  Let me tell you...it's a LOT!  A GREAT A LOT, though.  ;)

First,  lets look at some pictures!  We all love pictures, right?

We traveled home and got to spend some time with cousins, Aunt's, and Uncle's that we only get to see once or twice a year.

My cousins will probably kill me for this!  HA!  Chasity and Amber.

My Grandma Lawson.  I was seriously blessed to get this Grandmother in my life. I love her so much!!

And so do the kids. ;)

While away, I was given an award by Impossible Cleanliness!  YAY!!  Kerrye was so nice to give me my second Versitile Blogger award.  I have already bored you with the facts and things the first time so I won't do that again, but, hope on over if you like and see what goodness Kerrye has to share.  :)  Thanks so much, Kerrye!!

So, what about you all?  How was your Thanksgiving?

Hair Stuff

Just last week I was saying that I will not show you any more "accessories" didn't I?? OOPS. Well, it is after all my blog, and I will show you what I want! HA! Just kidding, of course! I would hate to bore any of you, so I'm trying to switch it up...I just can't seem to get away from all the cute accessories out there! AAAhhhh!! Do they have accessory therapy? lol

The hubby bought a Jeep this summer. I KNOW! L.O.V.E. And if you are from the south, you know it's got to be jacked up! Anyway, while riding in the jacked up Jeep with short hair....it's not pretty. Not at all! So, I needed a few things to hold my hair against my head. :) Here is what I made!

I put a "clear elastic" piece on the back/bottom of it.  I don't know if it actually helps it stay into place, but it makes me feel better about it.  Ha!

And of course it needed to a cute flower on it. :)  And guess what else!  This particular one is for sale in The Shop!!

I like to party over here!

Thanks so much for stopping in.  Have a great week!

I've been wanting to add some more pillows to my bed.  If you remember this post, then you know our room is done in "cabin" or "outdoorsy" decor.  This would be perfect!

LOVE this watch/bracelt in one!  And I have the perfect belt in mind for one.  Don't you love when that happens??

Last, but certainly not least!  How cute is this Gingerbread house??  It cought my eye because we have a HUGE box from our recent dishwasher purchase that the kids have been BEGGING to play with.  Now, we have the perfect thing to do with it. ;)  That should keep them busy for a few hours, at least.

Pinterest: Make Me {A Scrappy Shade}

Good Morning all of you fabulous friends! It is DECEMBER!! WOOT WOOT! Today I would like to show you my shade that I made for my lamp from earlier this week. ;) I am having such a hard time figuring out what "style" I want my living room to have. I've always been a dark wood, "fancy" type in the living room. Then I wanted to go with the primitive look. Well, I haven't really went to far with that, and decided I really like the bright, interesting, eclectic look. lol How in the world do you decide on a look? Its so hard! Since I decided to go with the eclectic look for the time being, I wanted a funky shade for my yellow lamp. Let's get started.

I found the following shade on Pinterest!
(Click picture and it will take  you to the site it was found on)

Here is the lamp shade from my broken lamp from Monday's Post.

Rip it apart!  This is kinda fun. ;)

Here is your plain lamp shade, ready to be dressed up!

I measured fabric pieces that would reach from top to bottom, with about 2 inches extra on each end.  I made the strips about 1 and a half inches wide.

I just wrapped the ends around the shade and tied a knot.  I wanted it to look "messy".

Keep tieing.  This is the least fun part.  When your done, trim the ends to make them all the same length at the knots.

Put your shade on the lamp and your done!  I don't have the color of the shade in any other part of my living room, so it's a very nice color to bring in.  I think it looks so funky on my yellow lamp.

All together, this cost me $3.99!  Just the cost of the lamp.  Score!

What do you think?  Cute?  Colors aren't right?  Shade to wide at the bottom?  Let me know. :)

Have a fabulous day!!

Fixing a lamp

Remember the post from a few Saving's Saturday ago? When I had a trip to goodwill and got a fabulous yellow lamp? Well, turns out it didn't work. BOO! BUT, since I seem to never throw anything away I had a plan. See this lamp below?
Yea, the hubby was supposed to put it into storage, and he acctually THREW it into storage.  Men!  But I couldn't bear to get rid of it because it was a gift from my MIL, and I knew I would be able to do something with the pieces at some point.  Well, that point was now.
First, cut the wired of the broken lamp above.  We will use all of it's pieces to fix the new/broken lamp.  That just doesn't sound right, does it. HA!

Now you can cut the new/broken lamps cord and take it all apart.  {Remember how it all screws back together, because it will be much easier to put back together once your done.)

Slide the new cord through all of the holes on the new lamp, and take off some of the plastic so that the wires are showing.

This is what they cord shoud look like now.  You will want to twist the ends together on each cord, so that they will "splice" together.

Once you splice the cords together, add caps to keep them together, and make sure you don't blow your house up.  That's never good!

Add all of the parts back on, and tighten everything up and your done!  Here is the working lamp!  Now, I just have to figure out a shade for it. ;)

Have a fabulous day!!

Marking off the Christmas list! {Wreath}

It's time to start making/buying Christmas gifts! I L.O.V.E. this time of year! Really! The best!! :) This year I have decided to make as much gifts as I can for friends and family that I will give to. Can you believe this is the first year I have tried this? Crazy, right? Well, I am loving it. I have completed my first item, and it looks like nothing that would be given around all of the wonderful colors for Christmas. BUT, it is for the next season that will be ahead. So, here it is!

It is a wreath.  I took step by step pictures, although I'm sure all of you could have figured it out just by looking at it! ;)

Wrap the pieces of fabric all the way around, hot gluing into place.

I made a small bunting with fabric and twine.  This is the back, showing how I just folded the fabric over the top of the twine and hot glued to keep it hanging.

Here is the finished product!  I really do love it, and I am kinda jealous of the person that is getting it.  LOL  I think it looks great on my door, don't you? ;)

What about you?  Are you making everything this holiday season?  Or buying?  Maybe both?  Whatever it is, good luck!!

I like to party over here!

Have a fantabulous day, friends!
