Monster Towel

I have been seeing these pop up all over blog land. I feel that I tent to more things for my daughther, than I do for my boys. So, when I kept seeing these I knew they would love it.

What you need:
hand towel

First, here are the supplies I used...
First, cut the "decorative" end off of the hand towel.
Second, fold the towel in half lengthwise and sew down the length side.
Third, fold the towel inside/out so that it will make a cover for the head.
Sew the double edged side onto the top middle of the regular size towel.
Cut the shapes you want for the eyes and sew them onto each side of the "head".
Cut out the "ears" and sew them onto the top of the "head".
Admire your work....and your cutie pie kids wearing it!
And Luke....

I will be liking to these parties.

I am very excited about this post! I would love to start making some clothes for myself, and not just my kids. However, I am so scared to start! I have been buying fabric at our goodwill for this very reason. I figure that since I am just starting, and really have no clue what I am doing that I would get some cheap fabrics to "practice" on. Fortunately for me, I have been able to snag a lot of fabrics that I really do like. ;)

I seen a shirt on Happy Together's website months ago and I loosly used that for my sirt. I did change us some things, but not too many. So, this is what I did.

Things I used:

Find a shirt that you like the way it fits.  Fold over your fabric and shirt in half so that both side will be the same cut.  Lay your shirt over your fabric.
I started with the necklne.  I just cut down to the lenght I liked using the shirt I had laid out.
I then folded down the arm's of the shirt and and cut down where I wanted my arms to stop.  I left as much shoulder space as I wanted uncut between the neckline and arms.
Next, I moved to the sides of the shirt.  I mimicked the bottom of the arms and the sides all of the way to the bottom.
Now, I had my shirt mold.
You can't see this very well.  But I folded over about an inch and a half on the side of the shirt.
After folding over, I did small cuts about an inch or so apart. on the sides, and on the top of the arms where I had cut.  The small strips of fabrics at the bottom of this picture are what I cut to atach the side of the shirt togeather.
I unfolded my cut shirt in this step and tied those small strips of fabric into the holes I had cut on each side of the shirt and on the top of the arms.
I love this shirt so much that I had my mom/prfessional photographer finally take some pictures of me. ;)  Here ya go, this is what it looks like on and finished.  I hope you like it.

I have not been able to comment on blogs (not even my own) for almost a week now. Is anyone else having problems with this? Also, if you fixed it...how?? I have looked over the "troubleshooting" and advice posts on blogger and have found no helpful information. :( Thanks in advance! If you can't leave a comment on here...please shoot me an e-mail at denotechristy@yahoo.com Thanks!

Savings Saturday

Another blah week of sales because....I haven't been to the store all week! ;) I chose to go out of town and spend a few days with my family because of the holiday. That's the wonderful thing about couponing. You can do it when you want too....or not at all.

I did, however, bring some of my stockpilled food with me to mom and dads so that it was less they had to buy. That's another thing....if you coupon share your "wealth". It will make everyone that receives it very greatful that you are taking the time and sharing what you have.

I hope everyone has a fabulous Memorial Day weekend. Be sure to remember all of the ones that have fought for us to have this freedom that we do and the ones that are still fighting.

Mmmm Chicken

I have made this a few times before...but forgot about it for a while now. I use chicken more than any other meat. Not really a huge fan of chicken per say....or the price of chicken....but I find a loss for cooking with hamburger meat a lot. There just aren't a lot of recipes that uses hamburger meat.

What you need:
Chicken breast (boneless skinless)
BBQ souce
I cooked the chicken on the forman grill. While cooking the chicken I cooked up some bacon. Once the chicken is done I put bbq sauce over the chicken, toped with bacon, and then cheese. I put the chicken on a pan and put it in the oven for a few minutes to melt the cheese.

I don't know the correct name for it so I call it my Mmmm Chicken! HA

Chair Recovered!

I  haven't talked much about my mother on the blog as of yet.  My mother is the caftiest, do it yourself lady I have ever met!  I suppose that's where I get it from.  My mother has BUILT walls, and TORN walls down to make a kitchen bar or just because she wanted the space to be bigger.  She uses ALL power tools you can think of.  She made mine and my sister's clothes while growing up.  She recovers furniture.  She seriously could probably build a house if she had the product and time to do it.  Really!  She is one amazing lady.

My parents bought Luke a recliner many years ago for christmas. You can definately tell it has been in a little boys room. Look at the picture of it....Nasty!  The buttons were coming off, the back was coming off.....sad.
My mom came down last week to help with the kids while my youngest (Riley) had mouth surgery.  (She's doing ok, so far)  The day before she left I mentioned that I needed to find some material while she was down and have her help me recover this nasty chair.  Not only did she come to help me out....she brought PLENTY of material for my chair as well. AND, it's the kind of material that you can wash and clean!  Woot Woot!  Im telling you....she's amazing! ;)  The night after she arrived we started working on it.  Well...she started working on it.....I just kinda did what she told me too.  lol  Look at the finished product!
I did take pictures of the process because I was going to do a "walk through" on how we did it.  But honestly, we just covered, stapled, and made it work.  It's probably not the correct way  to  recover this type of chair, so I thought I would save the embarassment of it and just let you admire the finished product. HA
The back and sides.  Im not sure what the white thing is on the floor in the bottom picture...but its not there now. ?

Best thing about it.....it only cost me $2 for a practically brand new child's recliner.  : D  Mom brought the material, and I only had to buy the "decorative" brads!  Can't beat that!

Impromptu Concert

Since the weather has started to be nice in the mornings and not freezing, all of my kiddos like to go outside and wait for the bus with Luke. Last week, not only did they decide to go out and wait for a bus, but they also decided to rock out!  Before walking outside they each grabbed an instrument and went to singing and playing.

Don't you love my daughters choice of clothing for the day?  haha!  Yes, I do change her before leaving anywhere. ;)  Also, I'm sure you can see Luke's HORIBLE calic (is that how you spell it??  lol)  His hair is SO stiff.  It doesn't matter what I do, within 10 minutes it is sticking up again.  BOO!!
They realized I was watching them now.  They were singing "We will, We will, Rock you!"

High Heel Onesie

I am so lucky to finally be an Aunt! My sister is a few years older than me and finally decided to have a kiddo. Her name is Aria and she is a sweetie! She has just recently turned 6 months old and I love her so much.  Isn't she just ADORABLE?? ;)

Ok, Ok, enough bragging.  Back to the project.  While blog hopping a few weeks ago I seen this on Jones Design Company's Blog.
I whish I would have used a Zig Zag stitch instead of a straight stitch.....sigh. The heel on the shirt is acctually straight.  I promise. :)
I also added a little tool in between the flower "petals" as well as on top.  I love all things girly!  Now I just have to make sure I get to see her again before she outgrows this!

Learning Book

My middle son, Kaleb is starting Kindergarten this coming year. :) I am too excited for this to happen, but have not been very diligent with trying to teach him the things he needs to know. I am just entirely too impatient. Thank God I was not called to be a teacher. lol

In walks the learning book! I found this on I am Momma's website. Have you ever checked her out?? She is seriously amazing. One of my favorite blogs, hands down.  She had found these over at Preschool Packs.  There are a TON of choices to choose from.  They are print outs that you can put in plastic sleaves and use washable markers on so that you can use them over and over.  And the best thing.....Kaleb LOVES it!  Here's what I did.

WARNING-----There are a TON of pictures.  I just couldn't help but show off how cute all of the choices were.  This first book is the Toy Story one I made for Kaleb.

Of course I had to make one for Riley.  She doesn't really know what it is yet...but her time is coming very soon.  Her's is the Princess printables.

Ok, so I can't even just stop with those two!  I absolutely loved the idea so I made my cousins daughter one too!  lol  Her's is from the Doctor's pack because she LOVES all of those TLC shows about baby's and stuff! ;)

Thanks for dealing with all the pictures! lol
