What's NEW?? And a $25 Boutique GIVEAWAY

Hi y'all!

WOW!  I definitely didn't mean to be gone this long.  Ack!  I've thought about this (once) awesome blog many times the past few months, but could never seem to make it over.   Is that crickets I hear??  Sigh.  I'm sorry!

If anyone is still around,  then I will tell you what's been keeping me so busy....therefore keeping me away from here.  Well, I am now a BUSINESS OWNER!  AAAAHHHH!
http://happychicboutique.com
I have always wanted to run my own business, and I've always 'played around' with different ways to sell things.  Well, a few months back a friend suggested I start my own Women's Clothing Boutique and something just clicked.  Do you believe in 'signs' when it comes to life?  I wouldn't say I necessarily believe in signs, but I do believe in God putting things on yoyr heart, then beating you over the head with it until you finally listen.   Ha.  That's what happened to me.

As soon as it was out of my friends mouth, I was researching and dreaming.   COULD I start a business?  COULD I be smart enough to figure all of it out and run it?  COULD I attract other awesome women to buy things that I love?  The answer:  YES, I can.  So could you, if that's what your passionate about!

So, I'm doing it!  Happy Chic Boutique is an online only women's clothing boutique.   We carry sizes Small-3X, and we also have jewelry and scarves.  We have been in business for right at one month, and it has been going amazing!  I KNOW God is blessing this venture.  I KNOW this is where I'm supposed to be at this moment.  And I am so BLESSED because of it.

We also have a FANTASTIC Customer Loyalty Program.  Earn points for every dollar you spend, then trade those points in on various discounts!  That's not all!  Refer a friend through your special link, and both of you get $5 off your next purchase! How AMAZING is that?  I want to be your shopping BFF, while having fun and saving money!

So, who wants a chance to win a $25 Gift Card to my new Boutique?  (The few friends I have that are actually still around raise their hands...) I thought so. ;)

Glitter Deer Head Wall Art

Hi everyone!

It's been a few weeks since I've been around,  and I have some awesome news that I can't wait to share for what's been keeping me busy.   But not yet.  It's really exciting,  and you guys will be some of the first to know when it's time.  Promise.

Until then, I'll show you my new wall art.

I srarted with a canvas.  I traced out my chevron,  then traced out my deer head.  I wanted a view where it was slightly from the side, not looking straight on, so that's why the head and antlers are slightly different.

I used a teal blue for my chevron strips and I love it.  The deer head is done in a gold glitter.  Every deer needs some glitter, right?  :)  (The husband disagrees with me on this point,  but that's ok.)

I added it to my living room wall.  I just can't leave my walls alone it seems.  I like change I guess.

Thanks for reading!  Have an awesome day. :)

Divergent Series Review

The Divergent series by Veronica Roth is what started my full out reading obsession.  I found this series last year, and I flew through the first two books, Divergent and Insurgent.

Divergent

The series is based off of a World that lives in "Factions".  There are 5 factions, and each faction represents a certain character and job in the people.  Abnegation - Selflessness, Candor - Truthful, Erudite - Knowledge, Amity - Peace, and Dauntless - Bravery.  Every person belongs to a faction, and at the age of 16 the children are able to leave their current faction and join a new one if they like.

Divergent introduces us to Beatrice, who is the main character.  She is from one faction, and chooses to leave and join a different one.  There is family, friends, drama, action, and of course love.  The great thing about this book is....there is NO love triangle.  YESSS!!!!  Just a girl and a boy that fall in love.  That's pretty rare in books lately.  I laughed and cried during this book.

Have you seen my Divergent Library Bag?

Insurgent

Insurgent picks up where Divergent drops off, of course.  There are more characters introduced, more drama, fighting, and more love.  The characters are explored more, with more backstory added in.  It is just as amazing as the first book, Divergent.  I have read Divergent and Insurgent many times now.  I fell in love with these books.

Things get tricky with the last book, Allegiant.

Allegiant is the last book in the series.  It was just released this week, and I flew through it in a day.  I just had to know what happened.  I needed to see the happy ending because there is always a happy ending, right?  Not so much.  What I kept forgetting in the first two books is this.....they were in an uprising/war.  People are going to die, they have been through the whole series.  I don't wan to spoil anything, so I won't go into the book.  I will just say that I am not currently ok with how this third book was done.  It is Veronica Roth's books, so she can write it however she feels.  However, it felt too crazy.  So much was going on through the whole book, then we were supposed to be happy with the ending that really matters shoved into a chapter or two.

I wish I could say that I loved this whole series, but I can't.  If you are looking for a great few books to read, please try out Divergent and Insurgent.  I HIGHLY recommend them.  I can't push Allegiant just yet.  I am going to re-read it sometime....not sure how soon it will be, though.

UPDATE: After having a few days to process Allegiant, I have to say that I do believe it was a fine ending for the series.  A book friend of mine mentioned it may be a beautiful disater.....and I would have to agree with that now.  I am still heartbroken, but I would recommend reading it.

Have you read this series?  Let's discuss it in the comments!  If not, is there a series that was ruined for you on the last book?

Splatter Painted Frame

The other day I went to Wal-Mart and seen a frame, it was only 99cents, so I picked it up and knew I could figure something out to do with it.  I love painting frames, so when I got home I  went straight to my stockpile of paints.

When I was growing up I'm pretty sure I had a room that the walls were white with different colored paint splattered on it.  I say pretty sure, because my memory is horrible.  So that is where I went with my frame.  It was so easy, even kids could rock this one out.

Here is what you will need:

I started by painting a few coats of white on the frame.  Once the white was dry I just took the different colors and "layered" them separately by splattering them onto the white.  Let the colors dry in between adding a new one.  I like this because you can add or "tweak" your colors and amounts very easily as you go.

Let the paint dry, pop a picture in, and your done!  The picture I chose is an old school one from probably 12 years ago or so.  It's me and my sister.  I love it!

I think it looks perfect in my living room!
