Sittin' on the porch

Happy Day!

Last year I knew I needed to do something to my front porch, and this is what I did.

Well,  I am at it again.  Our porch is large, which is what I have always wanted in a house, but I still wasn't using it completely to it's ability.  Here is what my porch looked like after my redo last year.

Still empty, with lots of wasted space.  My mom and dad gave me a bench last summer and I decided to use it on my porch.  Here is what it looked like before.

I put a coat of green on the bench, and added some colorful pots that I spray painted.

Here it is now from afar.  I'm still not completely happy with it, and will be adding more as I find it.  Especially a rug as soon as I can find/make one that I like.  But for now, again, I am satisfied to have more on the porch.

Thanks for stopping by.

I like to party here.

DIY {Coloured Skinny Pants}

Happy Monday!

At this very moment as I am typing this is it 7pm my time on a Saturday night.  I have had a less then relaxing day, and I am SO HAPPY to be here...blogging. ;)

Back to the post!  Of course coloured skinny jeans have been everywhere this season.  I have loved them from the moment I seen 'em, but didn't want to pay for them since I knew they would be a "trend" and out the next season probably.  So I did it the cheap way!

I went to a local Salvation Army and found these white, wide legged pants from Old Navy for $2.99!  I knew I wanted them coloured, and skinny so I went to work.

Here is how they fit before I started.

I started by dying the pants....after three times trying to use green and realizing it was only whitener and brightener, I bought teal and got it right.  HA!  Read the labels people, read the labels.  When they were done with color, I turned them inside out and laid my skinny jeans on top of them.

I pinned down the legs the length where they needed to be cut down and sewn to make them skinny.

Cut off the excess material.

I sewed a zig zag stitch, and then went right down the outside of that with a straight stitch.  I just wanted to make sure it held since I don't have a surger.

Here is the finished look!  As always, don't pay attention to my awkwardness.  Hopefully I will get more comfortable with pictures of myself for the blog.

And since my little girl just had to take a picture as well, here is hers.  ;)

I love my new coloured skinny jeans!  Even if they did wind up costing me the price of new ones after my dying fiasco.  HA!

I like to party over here!

Happy Friday!  I have some family in visiting this week, so I have been avoiding all things bloggy.  BUT, I did take a few minutes to hop a round just a tad so that I will have some cuties to show you today!

Candace Creations painted her Ceiling Fan.  I LOVE this idea!  And the colors.  Yes.

Lake Girl Paints did this awesome Table.

Domestic Imperfection shows us how to Tile the Lazy Girl's Way.

That's all for today.  If you were featured, feel free to grab a button.  Thanks so much for reading.  I hope you all have a great weekend!

Dress {Fashion Star}

A few weeks ago I went shopping at a local Boutique downtown.  I love it so much, I'm going to see if I can take some pictures and do a post about it.  I have been inspired so much just by walking around in there.  While in there, I found a dress that I had.to.have!  I LOVED the dress, but hated the length and the price.  I don't have a very good picture, just one where I was in the "dressing room"....IE. bathroom.  Here is what it looked like....sorry the picture is sideways....I took it with my phone and can't figure out how to change it.

Since I didn't want to pay the price I thought I would make it.  A trip to Hobby Lobby and $6 later I had fabric for the dress.  I decided to try it myself.

Basically all it was is two rectangle pieces of fabric, with one arm hole cut out.  Sew the sleeveless side of the dress regular, next to the body.  Then sew the other side almost half way in, leaving a space for the arm to slide through.

When your arm is down, the extra fabric will lay in ruffles against your side.  For some reason it still wound up just as short, so I will find some simple black shorts to wear with it.

I do love it!  However, I may still have to go buy the original one that I seen. ;)

Friday Faves {Freaturing YOU}

Happy Friday!  I love Pinterest as much as the next girl...or boy. BUT, I also feel that bloggers need some love through visits and comments...not just through "Pining".  So today is the day that I show off what I have found while blog hopping!  I hope you enjoy and find something you like as well.

Learning to Fly used a spice rack to display all of her finger nail polish.  My master closet in on my "redo" list, and I hope I can fit this in!

Fox Hollow Cottage made this fun wreath using a pool noodle and jeans.  I have been saving my boys jeans that get holes in the knees and they would be perfect for this!  Sometimes it pays to be a hoarder.  HA!

It's Overflowing made this photo frame using reclaimed wood.  Just so happens that I got my hands on some reclaimed wood just yesterday!  Score!

Brown Girl Decorating recovered this lamp shade, and painted the lamp.  We all know my love for everything Pink.  LOVE this!

Twenty One Fifty Nine shows us how to make a cute magnetic board using an old drawer.  Love, right?

Did you find anything while blog hopping this week?  Leave a link I would love to check it out.
