Tip-toe thru Tuesday {Link Party}

hello lovelies!!  Welcome to tip-toe thru tuesday co-hosted by myself, Andie from Crayon Freckles, and Kim from Tiaras and Bowties

Kim won't be at the party again today.  Last week she shared that her husband, Jim, is having surgery today to remove a tumor in his brain. Due to an infection, Jim's surgery is postponed until tomorrow tentatively.   In addition he has another tumor in his lung.  They don't have health insurance, and are taking donations to help cover the cost of the medications that Jim needs when he's discharged.  You can donate here.  Please pray for their family.

Thanks to everyone who linked up to last week's party!  Here are the toP 2 pOSts from last week plus one of mY faVEs.  Don't forget to check out Andie's Fave. If you're featured, grab a featured button.

Melty Bead Hair Clips and Earrings {Craft Project Ideas}

The kids and I have been loving playing with melty beads lately.  I haven't used these since I was a kid, and I forgot how fun they can be.  While playing with them, I had some ideas of different ways they could be used.  And made Riley some hair clips.

I went to Hobby Lobby and bought some metal clips (on clearance!  Woot), and some earring studs with backs.  Melty Beads from Craft Project Ideas come with beads, forms, design ideas, melting paper and directions.  Everything you need to make some fun things.

I began by measuring how many melty beads would fit on the clip, and laid them out on the plastic forms that come in the package.  Next I followed the directions and melted the beads as directed.

I decided to not melt one side of the beads, so that they would still fit into the clip good.  So one side is melted below, while the other is not.

Finally I glued the unmelted side onto the clip and let it cool.

Next I wanted to see how they would do for earrings.  I just used one bead, and melted both sides until it was flat.  Then I glued the bead onto the earring and let it cool.  It is a little odd shaped, but seems abstract and different.  So I like that.

Both of them really turned out great!  And we both have been wearing them regularly.

I have some more ideas using melty beads that will be coming in a few weeks!  What have you made using melty beads?

I like to party at these awesome places.

Tip-toe Features {Featuring YOU}

There are always so many great things linked up to the weekly Tip-toe thru tuesday party that I wanted to start showing off more than just three things each week.  These things caught my attention this week.

Gingerly Made's Bath Redo.  I love the stack of shelves!  A bird (MIL) told me my FIL has a tone of them waiting for me.  So excited to do this!

Meeha Meeha shared her Edible Place Cards.  The possiblities are endless!

NissaMade has this fabulous Purse.  Seriously...what's not to love?

JAQS Studio uses cloth napkins.  I love the fabrics she uses.

Buggy and Buddy let her kids paint their own shelves.  How fun this must have been for her littles.

Creative Kid Snacks has a healthy snack idea for Halloween.

Sew Fantastic showed off her Minnie Mouse Costume.  So sorry I can't get the picture to link up right.  Hop over and check it out.  It's so cute!

Thanks so much for linking up to tip-toe thru tuesday!  I hope we see you again.  If you were featured, feel free to grab a button.

Tissue Paper Craft {Kids Craft}

I don't craft with my littles like I should.  But a few weeks ago I had an idea for a cheap craft, and we had some down time after church so we did something.  My kiddos love to craft, but it's hard to find something that they all agree on.  Luckily, the two youngest were all over this one.

Here is what I used:
tissue paper
construction paper
glue
pen or marker

But really the possibilities are endless.

I started by asking my two participants which animal they would like for me to draw.  {no judging on my mad drawing skills, k? } The top is miss Riley's, and it's supposed to be a pig.  The bottom is Kaleb's, and it was meant to be a tiger.

Next, I told them to pick whatever colors they wanted for their animals and go to town.  They loved tearing up the tissue paper and scrunching it up.  What kid doesn't love destroying things?  HA.

For every dot of glue, they used a piece of tissue paper over it.

I loved seeing how they riped it, the sizes they used, the colors they used.  I think it is great to spark creativity in your children.

Here is Riley's pig.  Pink and yellow.  And perfect.

Kaleb's tiger is more like a ....I don't know what.  But at least it has an eye.  He is by far my most creative child.  He loves to help me do things.  And asks for crafts to do for himself almost daily.

This is a really simple, cheap, and long lasting craft.  They seemed to enjoy it.  And Riley continued with a momma horse and baby horse next.  :)

Work it Out Wednesday {Go Commando 5K}

I DID IT!  I have finished my first 5K!

The Go Commando was this past Saturday, and I rocked it!

I am so blessed to have so many friends that are runners, and they all kept me motivated through training.  This picture is only a few of my friends that were there.  Sad I didn't get one with the sweet friend that got me started.  {Hi Catreese!!}  I believe God puts certain people in your life at certain times that he knows you need.  Catreese is definitely one of those for me!  She pushed me to give a 5K a shot, then she sent me weekly reminders and texts of what I should be doing for training.  There's no way I would have done this if not for her.  I thank God for her all of the time.  And she ROCKED her first half marathon that day, too!

The husband only used his phone for pictures, so these aren't really good.  I'm sorry.  Another one of my friends, Nichole, stayed with me through the run.  She's amazing, too!  Just three months ago she had a c-section and delivered a sweet baby girl.  Went straight into training, and even finished the run a bit before me!

The hills were horrendous!  Tennessee has some pretty steep hills, ya know?  The first half was all uphill.  Thank God that if your running uphill in the beginning, that means you run downhill at the end.  And that's what we did!

Your waining on my times, right?  Here you go!  I finished in 42 minutes with a 13.38 minute mile.  I was 56 in my age group with 77 total runners.  And I finished 391 out of 550.  I am disappointed, I'm not going to lie.  But, I did it.  And that's more than a lot of people can say.
This was at the end.  I really thought that this would be the end of my running time.  But, I want to prove to myself that I can do better.  So I am.  I am going to up the stakes and shoot for a half marathon in 2013.  In the mean time, I will continue to run, and train, and get faster, with more miles.  While doing more 5K's.

I hope I haven't bored you with my training posts.  Do you like them?  Don't care to see them?  Don't mind either way?  Let me know!  Until next time.  Have a great week!

A New Wallet

Hi!

I have been on the look out for a new wallet for a few months now.  This summer my wallet tore up, and I have needed a new one.  I haven't seen any in stores that I like, but Gussy Sews has some beautiful ones.  Some homemade ones.  So I figured I would make myself a wallet.

I used two different choices of fabric, lining, a hair band and a button for the closure.I added a section for my cash.

 Along with some card holders for the inside.

Then added the button and closure to the middle.

I had everything on hand already.  I love those types of projects.  I knew what I wanted to have in it, so I just had to take a minute to get my thoughts straight on how to sew it like I wanted.

I am so glad that I made myself a wallet. It was pretty simple.  Took a total of about an hour, maybe.  Probably shorter.  Would you want a tutorial on how to make yourself one?  I know you could do it.
If I have enough interest, I'll get a tutorial up on one soon!  Now I just need to make a matching sunglasses case.  Maybe that will be a project for this weekend.

I like to party at these awesome places.

Thanks so much for reading.  Have a great day!
