Strength of Love

I am too excited about this baby gift I just completed. About 6 months ago our family started a new church called Awaken. After 10 years in the same town we have finally found the place we can call our church home. It feels so good to know that!

One of the first people we met at church is Jenn. She and her husband are Assistant Pastors and she was over the children's program. The second week we were there they announced she and her husband were expecting. Only from the short time of knowing her, I know she is going to be an awesome momma.

I always have the hardest time picking out baby gifts. And since I am trying to make most of the gifts I give now, it is even harder. I feel that homemade gifts say so much. You really have to think about what the receiver of the gift will think about it, ya know? But you still never really know if they will like it.

I got my inspiration from Pinterest, of course.

The baby's room is dark brown and green, so here is mine.

I didn't take pictures of the process, but I really do wish I did now. :(  I got a board out of the husbands "scraps"....shhh, don't tell. ;)  I painted one side white, then distressed the board.  My sweet momma brought her cricket with her when she was down visiting this past week and she cut out the stencils for me and helped me finish it.  We hand painted the wording with the colors of her room.  (Thanks Mom!)  We loved it...but would she like it?
I wrapped it in ribbon and called it done!  The final outcome....she DID like it!  WOOT WOOT!  And, she needed something for her baby's walls!  Score!  Don't you just love when you are able to give someone something that they need, and can actually use?  I do!

I would love to know what you all think.  Do you get nervous about home made gifts?  Would you rather home made gifts over store bought?
I will be linking up to these fab parties!

Have a great day, Friends!
